warpednormal's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Today I watched the film Dosed at the rio theatre. A documentary about a woman (albeit a pretty privileged one) undergo the horrendous, soul crushing, but ultimately redemptive journey of attempting to treat her heroin addiction with psychedelics. It was deeply moving and challenging- but this woman had parents who loved her deeply and did not allow her to become homeless on the downtown east side like so many of my clients. It angered me that there exists in this world a plant called Ibogaine that can literally stop the physical sickness of opioid withdrawal within a couple of days while thousands of people die of fentanyl poisoning a year. That we allow methadone that people need to take for the rest of their lives to feel somewhat normal and there are plants like psilocybin and ayauscha and ibogaine that can cut through all the deep rooted excruciating trauma that is so a part of addiction. I emailed the multi disciplinary association of psychedelic studies to see if they had any need for volunteers haha. They are in their third stage of clinical trials for MDMA in the treatment for PTSD. One more step and it’s legal for therapeutic use, very exciting! 8:28 p.m. - 2019-12-28 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
