6 weeks in Australia

free hotel room by the beach in Surfer's paradise
dinner at TGIF's followed by the arcade and some virtual reality on my birthday
riding lime bikes along the beach
realizing that the anticipation for sex sometimes outranks the actual sex
3 weeks in his hometown, sleeping in the shed because it's the only space available
a house with his father, sister and her 3 kids
it's chaotic and messy and everyone nags on his father for watching too much youtube
but he cares for his grandkids so beautifully
Christmas is rainy, like home
we spend an evening looking after the nephew
i give him a bath and make him laugh by squirting water out of my hands and ducking behind towels to avoid his splashes. he finally trusts me.
we spend NYE on his friend's massive block of farm land in the middle of town, float on the river to cool off and drink lots of beer
we spend a day at the rodeo, some cricket, and afternoons at the pub
it's hot and then rainy and then back to really hot
Ty leaves for Vancouver a week earlier for work on the island
I stay in Sydney for a week
Spend time catching up with girls I met during my travels
an afternoon with Ty's friend who is a chaotic mess and cancels our other plans because he gets into a fight with his girlfriend
i walk around the city, take a tour to the blue mountains, spend a day on the beach, and have lazy days reading books and watching movies
now i return today...
i hear its snowing, cold, miserable
i go back to work so soon
part of me is looking forward to it. having him home almost every night, making money to fund my next travels, practicing presence, empathy and patience at my job...
